Terms of Service

These terms are a contract between you and Fork Studio Limited (company number 726783), registered at Rathmore, Baltimore, Co Cork, P81 HW84, Ireland, operating as scribe.town.
By using scribe.town you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The service
scribe.town is a tool for transcribing, editing, and creating clips from audio and video files. You upload media, we transcribe it, and you edit the transcript in your browser.
Your account
You need an email address to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login secure. One person per account — do not share your credentials.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, or if we need to for legal or security reasons. We will tell you why unless the law prevents us from doing so.
Your data belongs to you
Everything you upload and create on scribe.town — your media files, transcripts, edits, and clips — belongs to you. We do not claim any ownership or intellectual property rights over your content.
You give us permission to store, process, and transmit your content only as needed to provide the service (for example, to transcribe your audio or render a clip). We will not use your content for anything else.
// keep your own copies
scribe.town is not your primary backup. We strongly recommend you follow a 3-2-1 backup strategy: keep at least three copies of important files, on two different types of storage, with one copy off-site.
Treat scribe.town as a working tool and a secondary copy of your media. Always keep your original files somewhere you control. We take care with your data, but no online service can guarantee zero data loss.
Acceptable use
Do not use scribe.town to:
- Break any law.
- Upload content you do not have the right to use.
- Upload content that exploits or harms minors.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service.
- Attempt to access other users’ accounts or data.
- Use the service to send spam or bulk messages.
We may remove content or close accounts that violate these rules.
Payments and billing
Some features require a paid plan, billed monthly through Stripe. Prices are shown before you subscribe. You can cancel at any time — your plan stays active until the end of the billing period.
We may change prices with 30 days’ notice. If you do not agree with a price change, cancel before it takes effect.
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If something has gone wrong, email us and we will sort it out fairly.
The service as it is
We work hard to keep scribe.town running well, but we provide it as is. We do not guarantee that the service will be available at all times, error-free, or that it will meet every need you have.
To the maximum extent permitted by Irish and EU law, our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or €50, whichever is greater.
This does not affect any rights you have under EU consumer protection law that cannot be waived by contract.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a significant change, we will let you know by email or by a notice on the site. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of Ireland, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence.
